JOB PROFILE OF Goods Guard post through RRB NTPC EXAM

Railway Recruitment Board conducts Non- Technical Popular Categories exam to recruit personnel for Railways as Commercial Apprentice, Goods guard, Traffic Apprentice, Traffic Assistant, Assistant Station Master, etc. all over India. It includes both undergraduate posts and graduate level posts. Most of the time graduate level posts are preferred as most of the applicants are graduates only. JOB PROFILE OF GOODS GUARD

After the Goods Guard is appointed and posted at the required location, he has to perform some major duties and responsibilities which involve most of the Vehicle Guidance which includes:

1.         Every Goods Guard is provided with Vehicle Guidance document which has the information about the number of wagons, their weight, load tonnage of individual wagons and total tonnage. The VG is to be filled in by the by which is given by Station /Yard Master.

2.         To carry out regular checks of the entire train for any loose ends that might cause danger to its smooth running during the journey.

3.         To ensure brake stability with the Loco Pilot. To make sure that the train has adequate brake power and signing the Brake Power certificate (BPC).

4.         To monitor the formation while it is in motion for any irregularity.

5.         To prepare various train reports such as Combined Train Reports, Late Arrival Reports

6.         To identify and inform the problems occurring during the train movement along with Loco Pilot/Assistant Loco Pilot.

7.         Goods Guard is given 45 days training in respective Zonal training institutes.

8.         There are no fixed working hours for him.

 

PROMOTION POLICY OF GOODS GUARD (RRB NTPC)

RRB NTPC Exam


Goods Guard will be promoted in the following order according to his performance and experience

 

1. Passenger Guard

2.    Express Guard

3.    Section Controller

4.    Chief Controller

 Selection process of Goods Guard

 Candidates applying for Goods Guard post in RRB NTPC EXAM should be a graduate from a recognized University or equivalent. He must be physically fit in all respects with a Distance Vision as 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses ((No fogging test) and Near Vision as Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision.

Age limit for Goods Guard category wise is given below:

Category       Lower and Upper Age Limit

General                      18 to 33

OBC                           18 to 36

SC/ST                        18 to 38

 

There shall be two-stage Computer Based Test (CBT) for candidates who have applied for Goods Guard post in RRB NTPC Exam which shall be followed by document verification and medical examination. They have to qualify the two stages with the cut-off marks as decided by the Board thereafter.
